Back to Blogging + Self-Publishing Journey

Back to Blogging with Self-Publishing

I am back to blogging after almost three years of absence. It was a tough time during the pandemic, but it has faded into a distant memory, and I hope it will stay there forever. My husband and I went through a tragic experience over those years, which made us more introspective and filled us with insights. It would be a pity if we just stopped sharing and caring.

Aside from blogging, we are embarking on a self-publishing journey. I’ve always been a bookworm. In the last few years, I’ve also reviewed proofreading, copy editing, and digital marketing in English. It is my third language, so it can sometimes be challenging. But having those three essential pieces of knowledge has opened the door to learning more about publishing, an area I’ve always loved to explore.

Self-publishing has made it convenient to start, but achieving success is another story. It helps to have something good to promote, and I believe I do. My husband has finally decided to resume writing and has just finished two short novels in Norwegian. I helped him with the English translations, and both stories blew my mind. The first, about his adventures in China in 2010, is already available on Amazon (in eBook and paperback formats). The other is about a boy trapped in a parallel universe, and it will come out when the first book gains some traction.

I proofread and did medium copyediting for Mission Madness. It’s a thrilling adventure in which reality, myth, and fiction blend to create a truly captivating story. I’m lucky to have such a great test project, and I hope I have done it justice. However, I know there is no such thing as a 100% perfect output in the publishing industry. Mistakes and errors are ever-present among the hundreds of books I’ve gotten a hold of, but I really worked hard on this one.

As I assist my husband in marketing the book, will I be able to sell more than the few copies that most beginners typically achieve? Nevertheless, I am so enamored with my husband’s stories and writing abilities that I cannot pass up the opportunity to share them with the younger generations to enjoy and learn from.

I have been writing stories since I was a kid, influenced by many novels I have read. It was a time gone by, and manuscripts were lost, but the writing prowess of various authors will always inspire me, almost haunting me. I hope to share my novels someday, but now I am more than happy to be inspired by my husband.

I will try my best to be consistent with my blogging journey. Meanwhile, my husband will share more of his stories on Eldar’s Corner.
