Eldar Einarson is a Norwegian filmmaker and writer born in 1947. He is the son of the cartoonist Odd Einarson.
Einarson began his professional life as a sailor at 15 in 1962. However, his passion for acting led him to leave the sea in the late 1960s. Starting as a stagehand and actor at Scene 7 and the National Traveling Theater of Norway, he laid the foundation for a diverse career in television and film.
From 1972 to 1982, Einarson made over thirty documentaries for NRK, the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. He also worked in various roles in the movie industry, including camera operator, first assistant director, production manager, producer, screenwriter, and director.
Between 1982 and 1985, he was a leading producer-director in Movieteam A/S, producing films and videos for the business world. He has also been managing director for Rose Productions a/s and Edge a/s.
Eldar Einarson debuted as a feature film director in 1975 with Faneflukt based on his original screenplay. His filmography as screenwriter-director includes Kosmetikkrevolusjonen (1977), Pakketur til Paradis (1980), and For dagene er onde (1991).
In 1992, he was allocated the government’s guaranteed income for selected artists. Later, he assisted in developing film projects in Norway, Sweden, and Hungary. From 2009 to 2013, he was the Nordic representative for Focus Fox Studios in Budapest. He has also been a book editor and published two novels and two mini-novels.
