When I was young, I believed that humanity learned from its mistakes. I believed that peace on earth would become a natural part of old age. I was completely wrong.
But growing older has given me something else: the opportunity to work creatively, using all my knowledge. I have more than 60 years of experience as a photographer, filmmaker, and writer. For nearly 12 years, I have created the illustrations for the articles we publish here. Over time, digital tools made this work easier. Then AI opened a new possibility.
Today, I can develop and realize visual ideas without the high costs that previously made such work difficult. As a pensioner with limited resources, this means a great deal. It allows me to continue working, experimenting, developing images, and bringing them together in GaffGaff Galleri.
At its core, the process is simple. It is about turning experience into images. It is about continuing to create in a complex world.
This is a work I made yesterday. With it, I wish you a peaceful Easter. Take good care of each other.
Below is a more “rainy” version of the first image I created when the idea of GaffGaff Galleri emerged. In this version, the desert receives a refreshing shower, and with it, the gallery’s intention is clearly expressed.
More images have followed, such as this Christmas card, which I feel deserves to be shown once again. A tribute to those who quietly carry the weight.
As you can see, donkeys often return in my work—perhaps they remind me of my own situation here on earth.
A selected collection of my images will soon be presented in our online gallery, managed by my wife, Grace. There you will find magical moments, horses, mules, donkeys, wine, and other things close to my heart.
