An Open Letter to all my Relatives and Friends

Home » Blog » Travel Journal » An Open Letter to all my Relatives and Friends

Since I wasn’t able to meet all of my relatives and friends personally to say goodbye when I left for a new life abroad, I have decided to do it here:

Dearest relatives and friends:

I resolved to write an open letter to all of you to extend my sincere appreciation and what you mean to me. Some of you I have known from childhood, and some came along when I took off my shell and left my comfort zone. Some entered and helped me in my fight for survival. What a heck of a great company!

I have been like a stone, claiming I was hard enough to overcome all the trials and travails rolling the path of life. But a stone gets broken down, crushed into pieces by constant rolling on a rough and hard surface.  It can also be molded and polished if the circumstances are right. Thanks to all of you, I feel like a lucky stone that had beaten the hard odds and landed on soft ground.

When I got employed with little gains, you were there to pat my shoulder, gave me a hug, and even shared the little things you got. When I went into a business, failed, then tried again, you were still there to cheer me up and never left me in ruins. When debts are mounting, you job-hunted for me. When the employers told me I don’t have enough skills; you taught me some of your crafts. When some people called me mediocre, you said they have not discovered the grace in me. For backing me up when I needed all the “rakets” in the world to support my family, a lot of thanks. You also introduced me to people and places I would never have the chance to discover on my own. Thank you for giving me a meaningful ride and for sending me home safely.

I also want to thank all of my friends who have made my life a bit of a struggle. Without your resistance when I prove my point, I wouldn’t have known how to debate and discuss. Thank you for telling me that I talked without thinking and for reminding me that I was selfish and rude. I guess I do think a lot now before saying anything 🙂 I have learned because I got that valuable lesson from you that I cannot just act as a high nose princess to show how good I am or to protect my integrity. There are more mature and better ways.

I am glad to say that I never have experienced any serious animosity with anyone of you. You made my life rich mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. I’m now ready to leave and start a new life. I will roll and roll with good navigating skills. What I learned from you will always be with me. Thank you very much. God bless you all!

Sincerely,

Grace

Those precious “moments” of toils and fun, of luck and misfortune, of reckless tolerance of society’s norm, of nonchalant and erratic display of behaviors — will forever be etched in the annals of our friendship’s history.

Whenever I miss you – all I have to do is think of your awkward gait of confidence, of your rascal demeanor in debasing the arrogant, of your verbose justification of doltish indulgence.

I will surely miss you sis. Buena suerte. ¡Hasta que nos volvamos a ver!

Thank you bro, for being a good friend despite our individual differences and approaches to life. Looking forward to your visit to our humble abode in Spain 🙂

Awesome update Grace, I wish you the best of luck with your new adventures 😉

Remember, the best people are though who gets challenged frequently… sometimes they fail, sometimes they succeed, but they keep looking for the challenge… Those who are comfortable and doesn’t challenge themselves don’t grow…!

Thank you sir Mads for helping me learn a lot. I totally agree with that. I would get so bored if I don´t challenge myself in a good way every now and then. After all, we are here not just to live and love, but also to LEARN 🙂 Kudos!
